Terms of Service — Android App Addendum
Last updated: October 4, 2026
Back to common Terms of Service
This English translation is provided for reference only. The Japanese version is the authoritative and legally binding version.
This addendum supplements the common Terms of Service for use of the kalori Android app (the "App"). In case of conflict between the common Terms and this addendum, this addendum prevails for Android use.
Article D1 (Distribution through Google Play)
The App is distributed through Google Play. In addition to the common Terms and this addendum, the Google Play Terms of Service set by Google apply to downloading the App and to purchases made through Google Play.
The App is provided by the Operator, not by Google LLC. For inquiries about the App, contact contact@kalori.jp.
Article D2 (Subscriptions / Paid Plans)
The App is free to use. An optional Premium subscription, which provides additional features, is offered through Google Play's billing system (Google Play Billing).
- Each plan renews automatically for the displayed subscription period unless you cancel it in Google Play
- Pricing, subscription periods, payment timing, cancellation, refunds, and purchase offers are shown on the purchase screen and in the Commercial Transactions Disclosure
- A purchase trial or other introductory offer applies only when the purchase screen shows your eligibility and the offer period, and converts to a paid subscription under the displayed terms
- You can cancel in the Google Play Store app under "Payments & subscriptions" → "Subscriptions". After cancelling, you can continue using Premium until the end of the period you have paid for
- Deleting your kalori account does not automatically cancel your Google Play subscription. Cancel it separately as described above
Article D3 (Permissions)
The App uses the following Android permissions, requested through the standard Android screens when you first use the related function:
- Camera: capturing meal and menu photos and scanning barcodes
- Photo selection: the App uses the Android photo picker and receives only the photos you choose. It does not request access to all photos on your device
- Notifications (Android 13 and later): meal reminders, photo analysis results, and announcements
- Location (while using the App): showing the map and choosing a nearby store. The App does not collect location in the background or continuously track your location
- Health Connect: with your permission, reads steps, active calories burned, body weight, and body fat percentage to update exercise-calorie and weight records. The App currently does not write any data to Health Connect
You can revoke each permission at any time in Android Settings (Health Connect permissions in Health Connect). Disabling some permissions may limit related features. How the information is handled is described in the Android App Addendum to the Privacy Policy.
Article D4 (Notifications)
With your permission, the App displays meal reminders and other notifications. Push notifications for announcements are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google LLC). You can turn off each type of notification in Android Settings.
Article D5 (AI Analysis Limits)
AI analysis may be subject to usage limits based on your plan or other conditions. Current limits and any conditions for additional use are displayed in the App.
Article D6 (IP Claims)
For intellectual-property claims regarding content in the App, please contact contact@kalori.jp. We will review the claim and respond appropriately.
Article D7 (Plans)
The App is free to download and start using. Browsing features — product search and browsing the convenience-store / restaurant database — are free, and subscribing to the Premium plan is optional.
New accounts can use Premium features free for seven days from registration. This registration benefit is not a subscription and does not result in an automatic charge when it ends.
Some or all newly added features may be available only on the Premium plan.
